Location

Bulgaria is situated in Southeast Europe and occupies the eastern part of the Balkan Peninsula. To the north it borders on Romania, to the west of the Republic of Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia, to the east on the Black Sea, to the south on Greece and to the southeast on Turkey's European part.

Why Bulgaria?

For anyone who has visited Bulgaria it is not surprising that tourism is booming. It boasts formidable mountain ranges and has beautiful picturesque coastline. The climate is also more suitable for “Brits” who are looking for permanent living with, like Italy and France, contrasting weather on both sides of the country. There is a total population of 7.5million – with the country boasting an astonishing 4.5million tourists in 2004, 700,000 of those are British, an increase of 63% in comparison to the previous year.

Year-on-year temperatures on the coastline average 28°C, rivaling current favourite hotspots like Spain, Portugal and the South of France. One of the Black Sea airports (Burgas) recorded 687,071 passengers from January to the end of June. This is a 35.6% increase year-on-year. British tourists are up by over 68% over the previous year.

Another reason to buy now is because Bulgaria is expected to open its air space for European carriers in 2005. This will make air travel more competitive and consumers will benefit from a greater choice and cheaper flights. Furthermore, another €120 million is expected to be invested into the Black Sea airports of Varna and Burgas, which in 2004 alone witnessed a 40% increase in business. The state airline “Bulgaria Air” was only formed in 2002 and last year reported an increase in flights of over 57%.
